Jared Leto is one of Hollywood's contemporary greats known for his immersive, often wild, method acting and taxing roles in films like Requiem for a Dream and Dallas Buyers Club. The actor, whose latest movie Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters Friday, Oct. 6,  is now gearing up for his next rich role as the infamous, albeit iconic Hugh Hefner - featuring a robe, sailor cap, and droves of women in tow.

On Tuesday, Oct. 3 it was announced that Leto is set to star as the original Playboy in a forthcoming Brett Ratner-directed/produced biopic. At this time, few details have been revealed about what in Hefner's life will be chronicled in the film with his life full of script-ready material having founded Playboy magazine and known for his controversial treatment of women. But Ratner, who has produced major films like The Revenant, War Dogs, and others, said that he aspires to make the film like "an event," so while we wait for more information, a spectacle can be expected.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Ratner said, "When [Jared Leto] heard I got the rights to Hef's story, he told me, 'I want to play him. I want to understand him.' And I really believe Jared can do it. He's one of the great actors of today."

The news of the Leto-led biopic follows the recent death of Hefner, who passed away at 91 years old on Sept. 27, and while Leto never met Hefner in person, its only a matter of time before the Hollywood star goes full-on Hugh to get into his character's mindset.
