Jason Wu Fall/Winter 2020 Collection

Light fabrics and elegant silhouettes inspired by delicate orchid flowers.

Jason Wu’s Fall/Winter 2020 collection put the spotlight on special occasion clothing — as per usual, one must say. Wu’s creations have now become red-carpet mainstays; while some of his dresses can be lavishly decorated with sequins and Swarovski crystals, others can be quite minimal and tastefully understated — completed in delicate, elegant fabrics such as tulle, silk, and organza.

In his most recent collection, the designer was inspired by the work of Egon Schiele and exotic orchids. While the artist Jessica May Underwood painted the flowers in watercolor, Wu used fabrics as his medium of expression and reproduced the artwork in a subtle print on a white silk jacquard tie-neck blouse and skirt. The collection’s palette was flooded by shades of violet, teal, turquoise, and fuchsia, and the silhouettes gave the collection a dreamy vibe — willowy in some looks and frothy in others.
