Glittering-beaded dresses and top/skirt combos call to mind the iconic Marilyn dress worn by Kim Kardashian West on the  Met Gala  runway, Wu states “If the last two years have taught us anything, it’s that these moments are fleeting, and every second should be celebrated.” The sparking pieces have us in a celebratory mood and call to be admired. Wu utilized  the same technique in a standout silver, asymmetrical, wide legged jumpsuit that emphasizes this season’s desire to dress up and be seen post-lockdown.

The cool, sheer tops and gowns are flaunted by braless models, perfecting the recent revival of the black slip dress and early 00s lingerie as evening wear. The clothes were allowed to shine through with minimalist makeup and close-cropped dark bobs and slicked back hair, perfecting the image of  effortless New York chic.

Rich, sensual floral prints are a collaboration between Jason Wu and Italian artist Leonardo Pucci. Pucci was inspired by the Japanese bondage practice Shabari.

The prints are a refreshing take on orchid and parrot tulip imagery, maintaining a minimal moodiness that is cohesive with the rest of the collection, proving that florals do have a place at Fashion Week. The prints avoid being cheesy or gouache and tie in well with the effortless sensuality of the rest of the collection. The word craftsmanship sums up an impressive show by the New York fashion brand, combining expert tailoring with eye-catching must have details.
