JAY-Z Reclaims New York City In First Of Three Nights At Yankee Stadium

Thirty years after “Reasonable Doubt,” JAY-Z gave fans a star-studded first night of performances
JAY-Z took over Yankee Stadium for one of three sold-out nights on Friday, July 10.
The performance was part of JAŸ-Z30, a year-long celebration commemorating thirty years since the release of JAY-Z’s debut album, “Reasonable Doubt,” as it honors his body of work as a living cultural archive through concerts, like his three nights in New York City, and other experiences.

Though his New York weekend was only a few of many shows from JAY-Z, nothing compared to his first night’s show.
Special guests who joined him onstage include his wife, Beyoncé, daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, and collaborators, Nas, Alicia Keys, Memphis Bleek and Jaz-O.
JAY-Z walked on stage with a brand new haircut and outfit that felt incredibly New York. In a custom CROC baseball jacket by June Ambrose with a Planes white T-shirt underneath, paired with Fear of God trousers, a Planes baseball cap and Nike x JAY-Z Air Force 1s, his stylist had the perfect vision for his elevated streetwear look.
The concert opened with Beyoncé performing “Can’t Knock The Hustle,” followed by fan favorites including “Politics as Usual,” “Brooklyn’s Finest” and more.
He was then joined by Nas for “The World Is Yours,” “N.Y. State of Mind” and “Where I’m From.” Next up was “Feelin It” with Blue Ivy on the piano.

JAY-Z subsequently changed into a Givenchy suit layered with a Maison Bootleg piece and rocked Timberland boots. He later closed out his concert in a custom umpire-style proof vest designed and carpenter pants by Ambrose, a striped Japanese denim barn jacket, while sticking with his Timberland boots.
Some notable attendees were LeBron James, Kevin Hart, Adrien Brody, Megan Thee Stallion, DJ Khaled, Vanessa Bryant, Kelly Rowland, best friends Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, and others who wanted to see JAY-Z in his home city.
Closed out the night with one of New York City’s most iconic songs, “Empire State of Mind,” accompanied by Alicia Keys. The celebration of JAŸ-Z30 continues through Saturday, July 11, followed by his final performance in the Big Apple on Sunday, July 12.
