Jean Paul Gaultier’s Autumn/Winter 2026 Collection Encourages Play

Flipping things upside down and playful energy make up the Jean Paul Gaultier A/W 26 collection.

In Duran Lantink’s second collection for Jean Paul Gaultier, he assembled a cast of characters to embody the Autumn/Winter 2026 collection.

Whether cowboy, raver, banker, or steampunk club kid, each figure raised its own set of questions. Though varied in identity and attitude, they came together in a collection where tailoring, sportswear, elegance, and disruption collide.

True to Gaultier’s tradition of turning conventions on their head, the collection blurred boundaries throughout: feminine and masculine, vintage and new, technical and tailored, underwear and outerwear.

For years, Lantink has created garments from existing pieces, transforming them into something entirely new.

“There were times when I had no clothes left to wear,” Lantink said. So he created.

Creation and transformation run throughout the collection. Lantink was drawn to the gathered waist of a pinstripe suit from the Haute Couture S/S 2016 collection, developing the detail across a series of tailored looks. He applied the same spirit of reinvention to pieces from 1985, 1988, 2002, and beyond, suggesting that while styles may come and go, true artists know how to keep them alive.

A sense of freedom—to live, work, and love—runs through the collection, paired with an underlying spirit of play.
