Jeremy Scott Drops Out of New York Fashion Week

The American designer says bonjour to the city of lights.

A plethora of designers including Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Tom Ford announced in December that they would be absent on the upcoming New York Fashion Week schedule this season, and now, following in suit, reports are confirming that renowned American visionary Jeremy Scott will be relocating his show as well, to Paris.

Bailing entirely on this year’s Fall/Winter show season, the designers’ team released a statement regarding the house’s relocation: “Jeremy Scott will no longer be showing his fall-winter 2020 collection during New York Fashion Week. In a move to pay homage to the city that launched his design career, Jeremy Scott will show his upcoming collection in Paris in July.”

The primetime, first-day slot once occupied by Scott now appears empty on the NYFW official schedule. Following Scott and the aforementioned Lauren, Hilfiger and Ford, Telfer and Pyer Moss will also be dropping out of this year’s NYFW schedule. As the plethora of designers moving their runways elsewhere expands, only a few have disclosed where they plan to showcase their latest iterations. While Hilfiger announced a London runway and Telfar claimed the stage in Firenze, the rest remain unknown.
