John the Blind’s Second EP Out Today
From songwriter to solo artist, John the Blind delivers his latest EP.
John the Blind’s EP “John The Blind II” — the latest solo endeavor by the multi-platinum songwriter — drops today.
The EP delivers five original tracks that amplify Blind’s growing experimental approach and style to producing music. Blind’s single “TTD” will headline the new EP and be surrounded by other previously released tracks such as “The Running” and “Bottle of Pills.”
“This EP is a little more experimental and aggressive,” Blind told VMAN. “I stayed true to the idea that the lyrics and melody are the most important part of the song, but took different experimental paths to get there than I did on the first EP.”
Blind’s solo endeavors have racked up in proportion since his first EP dropped last year. In 2019, Blind released his debut EP which included the standout track “Hallelujah.” At the height of the coronavirus pandemic in March, Blind released “Isolation” on SoundCloud.
Along with the release of his new EP, Blind is premiering a music video for his single “TDD.” The orange and blue tinted music video, directed by Kris Moyes, explores Blind’s representation of beauty and pain in “TDD”.
“I had the tagline ‘Time To Die,’ so my first instinct was to make something dark and scary even though it is a simple love song,” Blind said. “The lyrics are beautiful and uplifting, so I created a sonic backdrop that fit the tone.”
Blind, also known as John Henry Ryan II, is a Rochester, New York native and Berklee College of Music alumnus. Graduating college and moving to California, Blind has written hit songs for artists such as Niall Horan, John Legend, Maroon 5, Katy Perry, Charlie Puth and Thomas Rhett.
The EP out today includes five tracks: The Running, Bottle Of Pills, Minutes, TTD and Slippin Days.
