2018 has unequivocally been the year of Jorja Smith, from the release of her debut studio album, “Lost and Found”, to her Grammy nomination for “Best New Artist”, to her cover of V. If you aren’t already a stalwart fan, then today’s the day to declare it—Jorja Smith has finally released her latest music video, for “The One”.

“The One”, which was released this past summer on the album “Lost and Found”, now has a equally sensitive music video to match. Starring Smith herself, the lyrics and video tell a story of a twisted relationship, set over a swelling, orchestral/string instrumental that imbues a sense of loneliness and sweet melancholy. The gloomy video is shot in wide-frame, adding a cinematic element to the emotional storytelling in the song. The haunting melody pairs with the solitary Smith in the video, as she goes through the cycle of leaving a complicated relationship but eventually always goes back.

With a unique sound that meshes alternative with R&B, Jorja Smith is the face of a generation of new musicians pushing the envelope of modern sound, and re-defining what it means to innovate as an artist.
