Junya Watanabe is extending his network of collaborators to the clean stitched, buttoned-up, conservative tailoring of Brooks Brothers – quite the turn of events from his avant-garde upbringing.

Watanabe, whose tenure at COMME Des GARCONS translated easily into projects with PUMA, Converse, and most recently Reigning Champ – drawing the eye of hype-beasts and social media cool-kids alike – will now try his sartorial hand on a collegiate-inspired line with the longest standing menswear brand in America.

The drop consists of a zip-up shirt, two button-downs that stay true to Watanabe’s signature rubric of patchwork, and a blazer in three color variations (modestly: blue, white, and navy). While the capsule will cleanly merge two different buyers, the brands have remained authentic in the subtle detailing of every piece.

The patchwork button-downs are simply a vamped-up version of Brooks Brother’s classic “Polo Color Shirt” – complete with Oxford fabrics and that BB embroidered logo on the upper-left chest. Notched lapels, cuffed sleeves, and brass buttons merely gild the lily.

The capsule is available at Brooks Brother’s Aoyama, Tokyo location and select Junya Watanabe stores; Prices range from $526 – $1,635.
