Justin Bieber Just Achieved a Big Billboard Milestone

The singer’s newest album gives his week a great start

Justin Bieber’s week is off to a stellar start. With the release of his newest album, Justice, Bieber debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart. However, major traction for the album also saw the record’s fifth single, “Peaches,” simultaneously debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. All of this adds up to give Bieber the honor of being the first solo male artist to simultaneously debut a song and album at number one.

Bieber is, overall, the third artist to achieve this feat, following Taylor Swift (who did it twice, with folklore/“cardigan” and evermore/“willow”) and BTS (BE/“Life Goes On”), both of whom did so in 2020. The track becomes Bieber’s seventh number one single and the first for featured artists Daniel Caesar and Giveon.

Bieber had a pretty stacked week in general. Apart from debuting a song at number one, 13 songs off the album concurrently sit on the Hot 100 chart, 11 of them being debuts. This means that every song off the record (including two previous singles “Holy” and “Lonely”) has now charted on the main singles chart.

Bieber achieves his eighth number one record on the Billboard 200, also notching another record as the youngest solo artist to hit this milestone. This pulls him ahead of Elvis Presley, who was almost 30 when he earned his eighth number one, as opposed to Bieber’s 27. Bieber’s debut ends the 10-week reign of Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous on the albums chart.
