Justin Bieber Talks Drug Abuse And Growing Up in The Spotlight on Social Media

Justin Bieber explains previous drug abuse and expresses his gratitude towards his marriage in a lengthy Insta-post.

Justin Bieber revealed his softer side on Monday night after sharing a lengthy Instagram post, giving his followers some insight into his personal experiences growing up as a child superstar.

Though always in the limelight, Bieber had previously cast a shadow on his past “bad boy” behavior. For years fans were left in the dark, wondering what had exactly happened to the legendary bowl-cut Bieber, who morphed before their eyes from a sweet teenage heartthrob to canceled concerts and a criminal record.

In his post, Bieber shared to the world that he handled the intense lifestyle of being an entertainer by turning to hard drugs at the age of nineteen. The “Boyfriend” singer explained that he believes being an entertainer and abusing drugs are completely intertwined, due to the extremities of the highs and lows that come with performing.

“Being on stage, according to studies is a bigger dopamine rush than almost any other activity…so these massive ups and downs on their own are very hard to manage,” he wrote. “You notice a lot of touring bands and people end up having a phase of drug abuse, and I believe it’s due to not being able to manage the huge ups and downs of being an entertainer.”

After having his name in lights for years, Bieber explained that fame at a young age is not all it is cracked up to be, even referring to the life that so many dream of having as, “a very scary concept.”

The 25-year-old turned over a new leaf a few years ago when he decided to embrace religion. Bieber shared a photo on his Instagram in 2018 during the Easter holiday that stated, “Jesus has changed my life…I am set free from bondage and shame. I am a child of the most high God and he loves me exactly where I am, how I am, for who I am.”

In his most recent post, Bieber not only reminded everyone that religion played a part in his lifestyle change, but also gave thanks to his marriage to Hailey Baldwin Bieber. Bieber described his marriage as, “the best season of my life,” teaching him to, “learn patience, trust, commitment, kindness, humility, and all of the things it looks like to be a good man.”
