K-Way Debuts R&D Fall Winter 2022 Collection

Monday’s runway show marks the sportswear brand’s official entry into the luxury world.

Sportswear brand K-Way hosted their first ever runway show on Monday to show off their R&D Fall/Winter 2022 collection, and to help close out Milan Fashion week.

Monday’s show marked a milestone for the brand, best known for their colorful windbreakers, as they have been attempting to break into the luxury scene with recent partnerships with brands like DSquared2 and Fendi.

Designer Monica Gamberoni doesn’t shy away from bright colors, and the latest collection blends the classic K-Way yellow, orange, and blue tape design with brighter fushia and green. Traditional silhouettes like the anorak, the half-zip pullover, and the quilted jacket take new form with sleek redesigns. “The pieces play on layering alluding to freedom, an urban kudos, and a playful approach to dressing,” the brand says in a statement.

The R&D collection fuses technical design, textile research, and style. Shimmering metallic contrasts with utility pockets to create a line that is both on-trend and durable. Long skirts, cropped jackets, and graphic quilting succeed in making the pieces “as at ease in the city as they are in the outdoors.”

K-Way’s foray into the world of luxury sportswear is ushered by their use of high-end, sustainable materials such as mouliné yarns and recycled sheepskin and nylon. The brand also uses wool sourced from Loro Piana’s STORM SYSTEM, and repurposes unused garments through a high-tech recall system.

K-Way belongs to parent company BasicNet SpA, which also owns brands like Kappa and Superga. Watch the full runway show here.
