“You do everything that I say,” Kali Uchis raps in Spanish. “If you’re with me, only I call the shots.”

And she does: her latest release, Aqui Yo Mando, is an ode to her own agency. Though, she’s not completely alone, joined by Rico Nasty. The two constitute somewhat of a power duo, a femme fatale amalgamation. 

The video, released today, is every bit as dynamic as the track itself, and it’s certainly clear who’s in charge. Kali and Rico become cultish-couture assassins, wearing los pantalones. And if the message wasn’t apparent, Rico will repeat it for you: “I would never play about me / Do what I want, I don’t need a thing.”

For Uchis, the release is the second of the year, following April’s TO FEEL ALIVE EP. It’s a bit of a detour into reggaeton and club sounds, a direction influenced by producer Tainy alongside Albert Hype, Jon Leone, and Rvnes. As Uchis shares in a press release, ““To my fans & new listeners; I pray this song makes you feel tasty and powerful, thank you!” We, of course, can’t wait to see what’s next.
