Vans will officially collaborate with legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld to give the classic checkerboard pattern a chic upgrade. According to WWD, Vans’ trademark pattern will now feature camouflage, “using a cameo motif depicting Lagerfeld’s iconic profile, with boucle fabric and a quilted letter K among other leitmotifs.”
The California-based favorite among skaters and street style aficionados will work with Lagerfeld on the hallmark “Old Skool” sneakers as well as other interpretations of the Vans’ sneakers, and apparel. The collection will drop worldwide on Sept. 7 within the price range of $40 to $300. While images remain secretive now, this collection will no doubt become a street wear favorite.
In typical Lagerfeld fashion, the predominant colors will be black and white, including a T-shirt with an image of Lagerfeld donning a checkerboard tie, a black-and-white raglan sleeve bomber, and a leather backpack adorned with a quilted letter K.
