Its been up on every single Kate Spade New York store since the late designer took her own life just two weeks ago: a sign on the glassy display windows that reads "Kate Spade, the visionary founder of our brand, has passed. Our thoughts are with her family at this incredibly heartbreaking time. We honor all the beauty she brought into the world."

And that she did do: bringing beauty (one that went far beyond the materialistic) to the world through her brand and her designs was something Spade devoted her life to seemingly effortlessly. Kate Spade New York now wants to make a tribute towards the late designer's legacy and donate over $1 million to causes devoted to suicide prevention and awareness starting with allocating $250,000 towards the Crisis Text Line.

In addition, the brand plans to match up to $100,000 of the public donations made to the Crisis Text line from June 20 - June 29. Donations can be made online through crisistextline.org/katespadeny.

Anna Bakst, brand president and chief executive officer of Kate Spade New York, remarked: “Kate Spade was a true fashion icon who brought joy to the lives of women around the world, and inspired women to live life to the fullest. We are dedicated to carrying on her legacy...Mental health does not discriminate; it is complicated and difficult to diagnose and can often be life-threatening. We hope that our support will shed even more light on the disease and encourage those who suffer from mental health issues to seek help. Collectively, we must all do more.”
