Katy Perry Debuts ‘Smile’

Katy Perry’s upbeat tracks in ‘Smile’ arrive with animated music videos and an online video game.

Katy Perry releases her latest album Smile delivering quarantine-needed upbeat and joyful sounds.

The twelve song release arrives alongside a multitude of music videos, special vinyl editions and even a Perry-themed video game. Smile was created after Perry endured a difficult personal period. Circus themed videos and songs filled with magic and color bring Perry (and her fans stuck in quarantine) out of that rut into a joyous place.

Leading up to the release of Smile Perry debuted some teasers of songs and videos. Those music videos will continue to pile up in the days following the album’s release. A film for Perry’s second track on the album Cry About It Later released earlier this week. Directed by SykoSan, the music video shows an animated Perry flying into magical lands on a broomstick.

Katy’s Quest — an online video game developed by Double A Labs, Alienware and Mathew Cullen — launches this weekend. The game, which is Perry and Smile themed, will debut on a weekend-long Twitch event benefiting MusiCares and Extra Life.

Exclusive vinyl editions of Smile are available on Perry’s website, Target and Walmart. A translucent cobalt blue vinyl that includes bonus track High On Your Supply and a special  voice memo from Katy is available only at Target. A lenticular cover CD edition and picture disc are available only at Perry’s online store.

Perry teamed up with Postmates at the beginning of quarantine to donate meals with the help of World Central Kitchen and Tender Greens to Good News Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Postmates will debut a special edition of the “The Receipt” this weekend where Katy will offer free delivery for fans.
