Keke Palmer Will Host This Year’s MTV Video Music Awards
The always eventful award show will be met with Palmer’s charisma and “energetic force.”
Airing live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on August 30th is the 2020 MTV Music Video Awards, and this year’s host is Keke Palmer. In a video posted by MTV on Thursday announcing Palmer’s role for the upcoming VMAs, the actress and singer channeled her character from Nickelodeon’s True Jackson: V.P. by changing the lyrics to the show’s notorious theme song to celebrate the news.
“Keke is an energetic force and a quadruple threat,” read a statement from Bruce Gillmer, who’s the president of music, music talent, programming, and events for ViacomCBS. “Her comedic wit on relevant topics will make this year’s show truly unforgettable.”
MTV also announced earlier this week a handful of artists who’ll be performing this year, including Doja Cat, J Balvin, and South Korean group BTS with more being added to the list closer to the show’s date. In July, MTV set forth their nominations, where fans have 15 categories to cast their vote for up until August 23rd via MTV’s website, but voting for the PUSH best new artist award is open for votes until the show starts.
