Kenzo’s “La Collection Memento 3” is the ultimate celebration of one of fashion’s biggest trends of the moment — maximalism. From bright, striped knits to lush, floral motifs straight from the tropics, co-designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim riffed off classic cold-weather silhouettes with the addition of Kenzo’s signature, playful twist.

While Leon and Lim’s knitwear-heavy vision for the latest collection did not stray far from the designs of last season, the creative duo behind Kenzo kept the collection engaging and innovative with their tactful use of loud, primary colors. Wide, horizontal stripes were juxtaposed against dreamy floral prints, fusing bold design elements to create chaotic yet cohesive looks. Furthermore, another unique design element included a nude painting which was translated into a print — a standout look from the collection is a past-the-knee length coat featuring the nude painting, with white fur detailing at the collar, sleeves, and hemline.

Once again, the brand decided to show men’s and women’s looks together on the runway, with androgynous, oversized silhouettes suiting all genders. Unlike the brand’s SS18 show which featured 83 Asian models — an effort to pay homage to the French luxury house’s founding designer, Kenzo Takada — this go-around, the runway was full of diverse casting that included models of all different ethnicities. Kenzo has always been a lively brand which plays upon their “East meets West” heritage, and this season was absolutely no different. While Kenzo has already made great waves within the fashion industry of Paris and beyond, Kenzo is certainly still an underdog to watch. Click through to see the collection in full.
