Back in October 2020, Kiko Kostadinov and ASICS kicked conventional collaboration to the curb for a more curatorial approach. The Bulgarian fashion designer’s team takes the brand’s latest models to adjust, reimagine and revamp. Ultimately, adding a little “je-ne-sais-quoi” to ASICS in-line products, with the most recent upgrade embellishing the GEL-CONTEND 5 runner and GEL-VENTURE 7 trail sneakers. Their latest iterations on “King Kiko” are dubbed the FN2-S GEL-CONTEND and HN1-S Gel_VENTURE 7, each flaunts a few notable modifications but remains true to its original ethos.

Ice blue and lilac accents, alongside silver overlays and a rich red body make for a new rendition of the FN2-S Gel-CONTEND, which also arrives in a fresh mint green/purple color-way. Updated features include a new no-sew quarter panel and an altered toe cap, inviting an every-day-wear look. Sustainable materials make up many of these pieces, and the whole shebang sits comfortably atop an AMPLIFOAM midsole with GEL cushioning packed inside the heel.

Meanwhile, the HN1-S Gel_VENTURE 7 will be available in a luminous light green or bright taxi cab yellow with flickers of black and brown. For this pair, Kostadinov combined the heel and toe designs from the Gel-Kahana 8 with a paneled upper from the GEL-VENTURE line. Aiming for more versatility than its predecessor this version is fully equipped with GEL cushioning, while the midsoles still boast their off-road build.
