It’s true. After seven memorable years at Dior, Kim Jones has announced he is moving on from LVMH’s Dior Men.

Tight tailoring of delicate fabrics, defined meticulous embroidery, and utilitarian-toned androgyny were just a few elements Jones wove into the DNA of each collection during his creative director tenure at Dior.

After leaving LVMH’s Louis Vuitton in 2018, the English designer brought an enigmatic vision to Dior Homme. His reign at Dior began with a daunting Spring 2019 Menswear collection, a budding introduction to the fashion house, full of romantic rose motifs—an ode to Monsieur Dior’s first boutique and his fondness for roses.

The now free agent’s departure is triumphant, however. The news follows his well-received Dior Men’s FW25 collection runway on January 24th, then being decorated with the rank of knight by France’s Légion d’Honneur in a ceremony led by Anna Wintour on the same day.

Somewhere in between his first and final Dior runways, Jones’s feats include: renaming Dior Homme to Dior Men, reimagining couture for men with an iconic call back to Monsieur Dior’s 1950 “Debussy” gown, and amassing over €1.2 billion in sales from his menswear designs in his first five years at Dior.

During his time at Dior, Kim Jones was also known to be a collaboration connoisseur, uniting the fashion house with brands such as Nike, rappers like Travis Scott, artists like Peter Doig, and designers like Eli Russell Linnetz.

This is the second au revoir we’re receiving from Jones after he announced his departure from his role as artistic director at Dior’s LVMH sister, Fendi, in October 2024—a position that he juggled alongside his leadership at Dior.

So, who will fill Jones’ Dior Men—metaphorical—sneakers? Whispers circulate that the current creative director & designer of Loewe & JW Anderson, Jonathan Anderson, will take over Dior Men, though an official confirmation is yet to be reported.

As for Kim Jones, it’s unannounced where he will go next—his own label perhaps—but we can only assume wherever it is, he will bring his visionary tailoring and delicate tactical eye with him.
