If there is one thing Artistic Director Mr. Kim Jones will continually showcase, it is understanding the assignment tenfold.

For Fall/Winter 2024, the womenswear collection explores a sense of ease, simultaneous with Roman freedom. Tailoring and utility lead the ensemble cast of characters, with opulence at the fore. Staying true to FENDI house codes, clothing, and accessories are made to exude confidence and are infused with sensible and stylish elements. “I was looking at 1984 in the FENDI archives. The sketches reminded me of London during that period: the Blitz Kids, the New Romantics, the adoption of workwear, aristocratic style, Japanese style,” notes Kim Jones in a statement. Utilizing these influences, pieces were designed with asymmetric silhouettes and elegant fabrications.

Rich wools, silk ribs, tulle, shearling, leather, and organza are weaved to create kimono-style outerwear, belted coats, sleek knitwear, precision tailoring and workwear inspired by Japanese influences, and rigorous utilitarian dresses. Playfully dots can be spotted etched onto skirts and dresses, along with printed Roman statuary. Refreshed fabrications are also devised to provide tactility, protection, and essential comfort.

An earthy, jewel-toned color palette is painted across the looks, contrasted by classic black, browns, and beiges. Staple FENDI motifs are present in the Selleria threading, tying the present to the past in the collections of garments and leather goods including the leather riding boots, and the Chupa Chups lollipop holder.

Elsewhere, accessories are stitched with metal thread hardware that can be seen on statement leather bangles and oversized leather and metal chains, while sheer tights are styled underneath dresses and skirts.

The bags seen throughout reflect iconic past styles designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi, Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear. The Peekaboo, Baguette, and By The Way bags are dipped in revived neutral tones. The collection introduces two new handbags including the Simply FENDI, a soft satchel, and the Roll bag, a rounded shopper.
