How can one sum up the entity that is Samantha Hudson? In one word: enigma. The musician, actress, and social activist is no stranger to turning Spain’s social sphere upside down—having developed a reputation for being wildly unexpected and witfully brazen. Delivering viral hits despite political and religious disapproval, all embellished with a camp twist, Samantha Hudson manages to always bring a shock factor in her pro-LGBTQIA+ activism and social vindication-led audiovisual projects. Now, as the world begins to open up post-COVID, Hudson just wants to do what girls do best: have fun!

Spanish V: If you had to pick just one, what singular message do you try to express with your work? What are you trying to tell people?

Samantha Hudson: Let us be blonde and dumb!

V: What is something that you feel is missing in today’s society?

SH: There’s a clear lack of common sense in today’s society, and it’s funny that someone as absurd as me is saying this, but I really feel like people are always focusing on conflicts that go nowhere. For me, life is about being a sexy and enjoyable girl, hanging out with your friends, and aiming to be the nearest to what you’ve imagined of yourself. So that’s what I try to show in my social media.

V: Do you believe that Spain is more popular as a creative destination today than it was five or 10 years ago?

SH: I’m crossing my fingers. I love my country, and I think there’s plenty of great content waiting to explode—Spain has a lot to offer. However, I’m not disturbed about living in our small, little bubble. We don’t really have to come out to the world.

V: How has COVID and the ensuing lockdowns shaped you personally and professionally?

SH: Everyone was bored during the lockdown, and I was more bored than anyone. So, I created lots of content that shaped me as the fierce divorced woman I am today. I may be one of the few people that took [advantage] of the COVID crisis.

V: What parts of Spanish culture make you feel proud to be a part of it?

SH: Folklore is everything in Spain. The underground culture of our country is wonderful—our freaks, our monsters, our stars. There’s nothing you can obviate from our panorama.

V: What does the future of Spain look like to you? How do you see the country changing and growing in the next few years?

SH: I see Spain growing as big as my tits when I drink soy milk!

V: As a musician whose talent has been part of audiovisual projects, what have you noticed that has changed most about the music scene and culture in Spain, within the recent years?

SH: In Spain, we got a little saying—“God raises them, and then they get together.” I guess [all the] hot girls just know each other [now].

V: As the world reopens, what is next for you? What are you most excited for?

SH: I really miss dancing at the club and making out with horrible men that don’t suit me.

SH: Hay una clara falta de sentido común n en la sociedad actual y es gracioso que alguien tan absurdo como yo diga esto, pero realmente siento que la gente siempre se está enfocando en conflictos que no van a ninguna parte. Para mí, la vida se trata de ser una chica sexy y agradable, salir con tus amigos y apuntar a ser lo más cercano a lo que te has imaginado. SH: Estoy cruzando los dedos. Amo a mi país y creo que hay un montón de contenido genial esperando a explotar; España tiene mucho que ofrecer. Sin embargo, no me molesta vivir en nuestra pequeña burbuja. Realmente no tenemos que salir al mundo.

V: ¿Cómo le ha formado COVID y los consiguientes bloqueos personal y profesionalmente?

SH: Todo el mundo estaba aburrido durante el encierro y yo estaba más aburrido que nadie. Así que creé mucho contenido que me moldeó como la mujer feroz y divorciada que soy hoy. Puede que sea una de las pocas personas que se aprovechó de la crisis de COVID.

V: ¿Qué partes de la cultura española te hacen sentir orgulloso de formar parte de ella?

SH: El folclore lo es todo en España. La cultura clandestina de nuestro pa.s es maravillosa: nuestros monstrous, nuestros monstruos, nuestras estrellas. No hay nada que pueda obviar de nuestro panorama.

V: ¿Cómo te parece el futuro de España? ¿Cómo ve el país cambiando y creciendo en los próximos años?

SH: ¡Veo a España crecer tan grande como mis tetas cuando bebo leche de soja!

V: Como músico cuyo talento ha formado parte de proyectos audiovisuales, ¿qué has notado que ha cambiado m.s en la escena y cultura musical en España en los últimos años?

SH: En España, tenemos un pequeño dicho: “Dios los cr.a y luego se juntan”. Supongo que [todas las] chicas calientes se conocen [ahora].

V: A medida que el mundo se reabre, ¿que sigue para ti? ¿Qué es por lo que estás más emocionado?

SH: Realmente extra.o bailar en el club y besarme con hombres horribles que no me sientan bien.
