After the wildfires that scarred Los Angeles in January 2025, many were left with ash where memory once lived. In response, artist Alex Israel and Oliver Peoples have created a limited-edition sunglass. All proceeds from the collaboration will go toward Steadfast LA Foundation’s Modular Housing Initiative, offering long-term support to those who lost their homes in Malibu, Altadena, Pasadena, and Pacific Palisades.
For Alex, this project is a commitment to helping his city move forward. “The rebuild means everything,” he says. “It’s essential that we do what we can to support our community and keep the magic of this city alive.”

Offered in classic black, rich tortoise, and clear crystal, the frames feature a custom corewire etched with Israel’s signature Fin motif, inspired by his sculptural work and LA’s surf culture. “The Oliver Sun was a natural starting point—sharp and timeless,” he says. “But this was also an opportunity to celebrate the Oliver Peoples logo and reinterpret it alongside another iconic LA shape: the surf fin—a force of movement, and a symbol of resilience and renewal.”
For the campaign, Justin Campbell photographed artist and collaborator Alex Israel alongside celebrity muses Miranda Kerr, Diplo, and Eric Nam in his Mid-City studio, set against one of his trademark Sky Backdrops.

“This city is at the core of everything we do,” adds Oliver Peoples President Rocco Basilico. “Alex brings its spirit to life in such a meaningful way. This collaboration reflects the beauty of what happens when design, purpose, and community unite.”
The sunglasses retail for $675 and are available in limited quantities exclusively in the U.S. via OliverPeoples.com and select boutiques.
