This morning Lana Del Rey visited BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge and blessed us all with a dreamy cover of Ariana Grande’s viral song, “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored.” Del Rey is best known for her beautifully twisted lyrics and soothing delivery, so her song choice and performance fell nothing short of perfection.

Del Rey stayed true to the rhythm and tempo of the hit, but because of Lana’s ethereal intonation she gives it her own original flare.

When Clara Amfo, BBC Radio 1’s host, asked Del Rey before she began her cover if Ariana Grande knew she would be covering the hit song, Del Rey responded with a laugh before saying, “You know what’s funny? I thought about sending her a screenshot a couple of days ago where they gave me a list of preferred covers, of which she had like seven songs that were listed, so that she wouldn’t just think I was a mega fan.”

Amfo described the song as “bold and brassy,” as to which Del Rey emphasized that it is in fact, “very bold.”

Del Rey also preformed her cover of Sublime’s, “Doin Time,” that can be found on her newest album,“Norman Fucking Rockwell,” topping charts everywhere.

Soon after fans heard the cover, hundreds of tweets were immediately sent to Grande praising Del Rey’s take. Grande quickly responded with a tweet of her own, gushing with adoration for her fellow singer.

Grande also followed up with a tweet exclaiming how excited she is for “Don’t Call Me Angel,” a song which is to be featured in the new Charlie’s Angels movie set to come out at the end of September, tagging both Del Rey and Miley Cyrus.

We stan this friendship.
