Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming Elvis film is drawing all the attention, as actors, actresses and singers attempt to land a role in the new biopic. Lana Del Rey is fighting her hardest to land the role of her doppelgänger, Priscilla Presley. In a statement made by an insider, she “feels it’s a role she was born to play”. Del Rey is doing everything in her power to star alongside Austin Butler, playing The King,  and Tom Hanks as his manager, in Luhrmann’s newest film.  

The upcoming Warner Bros film will cover the life of Elvis, from his underprivileged upbringing, through his development to becoming a legendary musical icon. Lana Del Rey has been a longstanding admirer of Elvis, and had titled a song after him for the documentary, ‘The King’, which was released in 2018. Skepticism of the singer’s acting abilities have arisen, but it is not far-fetched for her to assume the role (just look at their resemblance). We’ll see if Lana Del Rey’s persistence and devotion lands her her dream role.
