LA’s Rising Grunge Pop Group Momma Drops New Track

“Habitat” comes off their upcoming album ‘Two of Me,’ due out this summer.

The four-piece band Momma from Los Angeles is led by singers/songwriters/guitarists Etta Friedman and Allegra Weingarten. Momma’s new track “Habitat,” coming Tuesday, is a taste of their new album Two of Me that’s set for release on June 5th via Danger Collective Records.

Exploring youth, morality, and punishment through fictional vignettes, “Two of Me‘s songs are about coming to terms with the side of you within yourself that is maybe capable of darker things,” Weingarten said.

Momma’s newest single embodies the “grand opus of the record,” Friedman and Weingarten said, and pulls inspiration from Electric Light Orchestra’s “Eldorado.” At a time when most are grappling with being confined to their homes and the constant chaos the world is experiencing, “Habitat” offers some wisdom.

We wanted this song to be a culmination of the drama that happens throughout [the record.] The lyrics were inspired by the time we took shrooms together and decided that ‘being alone with each other is like being alone with ourselves,’” Friedman and Weingarten said of “Habitat.” “It is about being at peace with your environment, and finding calm in an altered state.”

Listen to Momma’s new track below, and stay tuned for more from the up and coming grunge pop band with their album out next month.
