Laurence and Chico Flies us to Thailand for FW19

Pretty in pink, denim, tweed, and wigs higher than ever.

Laurence Li and Chico Wang have come through yet again with another stunning collection. The ready-to-wear fall 2019 show featured the designers’ signature avant-garde wigs and makeup, tied together with some more wearable pieces than we typically see from the brand. Although the collection may seem a bit toned down for the two, it still features strange yet beautifully feminine looks and is giving some serious Chanel meets Tim Burton vibes.

The models walked down the runway in pastel colors, floral prints, and ruffles all over. They have provided a soft and whimsical aesthetic while maintaining their roots of over-the-top and conceptual designs. Inspired by a recent trip the two took to Thailand, you can see the reference to Thai culture through the choice of colors, embroidery, and detailing. They have reimagined these concepts through the lens of the brand’s identity and style, using silhouettes that reflect traditional Thai garments and putting their own spin on it.

The show took place at Pier 59 Studios and contained a lovely array of foliage, complete with a huge gold gong. See some of the dazzling looks here.
