Lena Dunham is officially getting back in front of the camera, and this time for her first-ever role in a major studio film. The multitalented actress just joined the all-star cast of Quentin Tarantino's new film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Based loosely on the Charles Manson Family murders, the film follows Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio during the late 1960s, as their characters attempt to establish their footing in a "new Hollywood". Margot Robbie stars as actress Sharon Tate, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio's neighbor, and a victim of one of the Manson Family's brutal murders.

Lena will play a woman named Gypsy, a character based on one of Manson's loyal followers, Catherine "Gypsy" Share. Although the star hasn't spoken about the film yet, she took to Twitter to respond to a fan's reaction to her new role.

The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood cast already includes Dakota Fanning, Luke Perry, Austin Butler, Al Pacino, Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell, Maya Hawke, Emile Hirsch, Burt Reynolds, and Damian Lewis. The movie's release date is currently set at July 26, 2019.
