In the '90s, there existed a holy trinity of fashion icons who defined the term supermodel: Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, and Naomi Campbell. With countless campaigns, Vogue covers, and editorials by the likes of Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindbergh, and Steven Meisel, their effortless cool defined an era of style, and set the bar for the next generation of models to follow. Today, the three industry legends have posed together for the first time in over a decade with dream team Patrick Demarchelier, Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele, and Oribe to raise awareness for the Elephant Crisis Fund.
"Everyone was there: Patrick, Oribe, Carlyne. It was like time stood still," Linda Evangelista told V in an exclusive interview about the shoot, which took place at Demarchelier's studio late last night. "Somebody said something at one point and Naomi started cracking up so much she was in tears. It was fun, and it was effortless. It felt like family."
The idea for the image was borne out of Linda's agent at DNA, David Bonnouvrier, who has been one of the orchestrators of the #KnotOnMyPlanet campaign, led by Doutzen Kroes. The photo, below, represents more than just a reunion of epic, historical proportions: It speaks to the very heart of the fashion industry, and how far its leaders are willing to go when they get behind a cause.
