Lisa Von Tang Launches Resort 2021 Collection

The sustainable lineup includes fabrics made of rose petal fiber and hemp.

Lisa Von Tang’s new set is all about connection – between humans and nature. The Resort 2021 collection arrives with a short film titled “Here Comes the Sun,” which carries a powerful message: humanity needs to slow down, get together and build a better world; love needs to replace apathy.

Shot at the Maldives, the film highlights the label’s signature sustainable vein through respecting natural cycles and transforming old into new; “waste” into value.

Creating the collection involved research into how to convert materials that would typically just be tossed as trash into natural, biodegradable fabric blends. The designer created pieces made of 100% rose petal fiber from floral waste, such as the soft pink robe, and made extensive use of natural hemp, featured in the black kimono embroidered with cosmic motifs. A silk-looking yellow robe is made of 100% banana fiber.

As in previous collections, the label continues to locally source deadstock textiles and leftovers to create singular designs.

Other highlights from the collection include the all-yellow tailored ensemble, the set of royal blue dresses and robes, and the warm pink cover.

This is the first collection by the designer that is almost entirely made by one tailor per piece, following their made-to-order production process – some of the pieces can have a waitlist time of around 35 days, according to the brand. On-demand pieces are also limited editions: they won’t be available on the label’s official website and will be produced at a maximum of 50 units per design, after which they won’t be made again.
