Jorja Smith is proving why she's one of 2018's artists to watch, unveiling a stunning new single with Stormzy entitled "Let Me Down," which is the opposite of what listeners can expect to feel. This morning, Zane Lowe debuted the artist's new single with a ringing endorsement as a "World Record" for his Beats 1 Apple Music radio show. The single marks the first time that the two emerging British artists have teamed up.

"A dream of mine is to write a Bond theme tune," Smith said. "When I am writing music, I sometimes envision a video playing alongside. ‘Let Me Down’ sounded quite Bond-y, and when I was listening to it, I imagined it being played in a Bond film but during a scene when James Bond has gone down into an underground, dimly lit, secret bar, and he approaches the Bond girl who is sitting at the bar looking very guilty because she’s done something bad and let him down."

On Instagram, Smith captioned a video saying that the song was "about meaning very little to someone but being okay with that even tho it hurts. Letting you down is all they do but it’s better than nothing."

The beat, fittingly, is dark. It feels like Smith's voice is drifting toward us, emerging from that dimly lit underground bar. Stormzy proves why he is the face of UK grime on the track, with his in-your-face delivery and effortless flow. Listen to "Let Me Down" below.
