Listen to Mykki Blanco’s Anticipated New Track, “PLAY”
Mykki Blanco is back! Featuring on new hit ‘Play’ by J-E-T-S.
The rapper, singer, activist, and artist is back, featuring on new track by the super duo producers J-E-T-S. Blanco says that the song was “fun as fuck to record, point blank… I heard the track and the spaced out minimal instrumental that just rattles you from the inside with enough space for me to just be free on top, always my kinda mood! These two really are such creative powerhouses and I’m so happy to start 2019 with this feature/collab.”
In the video for “PLAY” Blanco stars as three different mall workers, the teen from the food court, the mall cop and the mall manager, ‘Sandra’. The video was directed by Robert Fox and see’s Blanco drop a fierce verse inside of the mall’s photo booth as each character. ‘Play’ is a wake up call, it is a reminder of how great Mykki Blanco is. Blanco is a rapper on the cusp of superstardom but will we got more music?
Last week in a series of tweets the rapper who has been open about his substance abuse issues wrote that the lifestyle of an artist isn’t necessarily the healthiest lifestyle for him. “I am exhausted of being in clubs, in venues, in music festivals where drugs and alcohol are rampant, I want more and this career and lifestyle have not provided it. So I am making a change”.
Blanco’s sophomore album ‘Stay Close to Music, Stay Close to God’ the follow up to 2016’s debut ‘Mykki’ is scheduled for release later this year and the album features collaborations with Anohni, Kelsey Lu, MNEK, Saul Williams, Diana Gordon, Jamila Woods, Ah Mer Ah Su, Slug Christ, Devendra Banheart and Jónsi of Sigur Rós. In the past Blanco has also tweeted that he would love to collaborate with queen of pop Madonna.
