Lizzo Is Still 100% That Bitch

Lizzo is breaking all the rules with her 2017 hit single “Truth Hurts”, all the way up to the Grammys.

Despite being released in 2017, Lizzo’s single “Truth Hurts” is climbing up the Billboard charts. It’s currently at number six, two years following its initial release. The song first entered the charts in May at number 50, and has since only gained Lizzo widespread attention and traction.

Lizzo performed the hit live at the BET Awards, and the performance received positive recognition, and with good reason. “Truth Hurts” is arguably Lizzo’s best track to date: it still sounds so fresh and the video is pretty iconic (Lizzo in lingerie and a wedding dress). The recent V cover star has been hustling hard for over 10 years, and now she’s seeing the payoff. It’s been announced that the song will be eligible for the 2020 Grammy Awards Record of the Year.

This is unusual, as entries are only considered from the past 12 months, so Lizzo’s surprise entry is major. The singer took to Twitter and shared this message with her fans, “EVERYBODY GON HAVE SUMN TO SAY BUT I BEEN BUSTIN MY ASS FOR 10 YEARS MAKIN MUSIC.. TOURING-BLOOD SWEAT TEARS.. WHEN I DROPPED TRUTH HURTS I WAS SO DEPRESSED I ALMOST QUIT MUSIC CUZ NO ONE CARED- IDGAF THIS MY TESTIMONY MY HARD WORK PAYIN OFF A REMINDER TO NEVER GIVE UP! THANK U!”
