Just in time for summer, Loewe has released their 2023 edition of Paula’s Ibiza. The collection started as an elaboration on Ibiza as an epicenter for culture and music; a place for creatives to create, experiment, and relax. Nestled into the island sat the original Paula’s Ibiza boutique, a grounds for said creatives to gather. This axis of where relaxation met art-making is the inspirational catalyst behind the collection.
Emphasizing the easy-going lifestyle of Ibiza, the clothing has been designed with wearability at the forefront, with quirks that represent the island as a hub of artistry. Crafts such as weaving, braiding, and textural exploration have been utilized to speak to Loewe’s history with crafts, present in a slew of crochet polo shirts, skirts and dresses. Alocasia leaves have been featured as graphics on t-shirts and button-ups, while an outline of a group of fish has been bleached into denim shirts.
For accessories, woven raffia and Iraca palm have taken center stage. The Iraca baskets and Loewe Font Tote have both been launched with the collection, as an elaboration on the emphasis of craft. Not only are these bags the perfect beachside accessory, they are giving back to the communities that they have been inspired by. Loewe has pledged to donate 15 euros for each Iraca basket or Font Tote sold, with funds supporting both a university scholarship program in Colombia as well as building a craft training school in Madagascar.
After a history of creating epic sunglasses in the vein of Paula’s Ibiza, Loewe once again is taking the cake for best standout shades for this season. The Wave Mask Sunglasses are an oversized model that appear to be inspired by a classic aviator silhouette that has been blown up. The lens of the shades are seamless in the front while also engulfing almost the entirety of the sides.
In a modern day reflection of the creatives that call Ibiza a second home, Loewe has casted a group of artists and entertainers for the collection campaign, shot by Gray Sorrenti. Featuring Alewya, Bad Gyal, Mason Hyce Barnes, Guitarricadelafuente, Emily Ratajkowski, Devin Halbal and Karol G, the imagery shows that the collection has something for everyone. From writers to surfers to social media sensations; all creatives alike can find a home in the world of Paula’s Ibiza.
