Loro Piana and the Art of Sailing

As a longstanding supporter of the sailing world, the Italian fashion house will sponsor two major regattas in the coming months
Little could be more quintessentially ‘Loro Piana’ than a sailing competition off the coast of Sorrento, Italy. Luxury, craftsmanship, and prestige are the name of the game at the 2026 Tre Golfi Sailing Week, one of sailing’s most prestigious events globally.
Loro Piana is no stranger to the sailing world. In addition to previous partnerships with the Regatta dei Tre Golfi and an upcoming title sponsorship of the Giraglia Regatta in June, many of the fashion house regularly produces garments by pulling inspiration from the sea. Pieces like the White Sole Shoes, the André shirt in linen, and the Bomber in Windmate® jacket share a heritage of functional sailing garments.

For over 70 years, the Tre Golfi Regatta has been held annually, with “Sailing Week” joining the title about 20 years ago. Each year, the Sailing Week attracts expert sailors and state-of-the-art yachts from across the world to participate in one of three prestigious events: the Maxi European Championship, the ORC World Championship, and the Tre Golfi Regatta. Both the Maxi European Championship and the ORC World Championship comprise a 150-mile race through beautiful Italian gulfs, and then a series of inshore races.
Sailing has been a central feature of Loro Piana since its creation. In one sense, the house pulls from the aesthetics of coastal Mediterranean life. The brand is a hyper-luxurious supplier of carefully constructed clothing, manufactured with the best fabric on the market. But much like a racing sailor, who has no room for error if they seek victory, Loro Piana strives for perfection to a competitive degree.

One feels the technical demands of sailing through the expertly cut, sewn, and finished garments of Loro Piana. But cloaking such technicalities is an apparent effortlessness, an effortlessness resulting from experience, trust in their tools, and, thus, confidence.
Even to this day, Pier Luigi Loro Piana, who, with his late brother Sergio, sold an 80% stake in the brand to LVMH in 2013, competes in regattas with his boat My Song. The Loro Piana family’s connection to the Mediterranean is a tradition that will be carried on by partnerships like this one. But beyond sponsorships of sailing regattas, a passion for excellence is a cultural staple of Loro Piana, one of fashion’s most elite maisons.
