Louis Vuitton announces LV² Men’s Collection for Pre-Spring 2022

Two creative powerhouses collaborate for Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Spring 2022, LV²

Louis Vuitton launches its second LV² or “Louis Vuitton squared” collection for Pre-Spring 2022 continuing the creative collaboration between Louis Vuitton’s men’s artistic director Virgil Abloh™ and the founder of the label Human Made, Nigo®. With a shared interest in streetwear, the two designers have explored their diverse cultural roots under the emblem of Louis Vuitton.

The second season of LV² continues the celebration of Nigo®’s Japanese origin through his fashion upbringing and informed by Nigo®’s personal collections of streetwear, LV² combines a Western 1950s and ‘60s tailoring silhouette with a Japanese sensibility.

For example, military icons and traditional costumes were created in a formalized lens in order to combine the casual with a heightened elegance. 1950’s workwear blazers are adorned with color-blocking and generational denim suits are constructed in Monogram camouflage.

Inspired by the properties of kimonos there is a tailored jacket in striped Monogram features a wrap-around function and a shirting is infused with kimono codes.

Boyish mascot motifs are also a part of the collection and serve as a new idea of logos, from duck-shaped buttons and bags to tiger heads and stripes, and the red hearts key in the graphics used by Nigo® At Human Made. A protection boot in the collection features patches embellished with the playful motifs while the LV Trainer has been reinterpreted with all-over graphics.

Nigo® took classic Louis Vuitton bag designs and integrated Japanese elements such as a cruiser bag with a small scarf knotting detail informed by furoshiki wrapping clothes. There is a cross-body bag in the collection that morphs into the image of a duck.
