To celebrate its anniversary and coincide with the upcoming World Expo Osaka Kansai 2025, Louis Vuitton (LV) unveils two major exhibitions in Japan’s cultural capital. “Visionary Journeys”, on view from July 15 to September 17, 2025 at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, and “YAYOI KUSAMA: INFINITY – Selected Works from the Collection”, open from July 16, 2025 to January 12, 2026 at Espace Louis Vuitton Osaka, together highlight the House’s longstanding cultural creative dialogue with Japan.
At the Nakanoshima Museum of Art—Visionary Journeys offers an expansive, immersive exploration of the Maison’s evolution. Curated by fashion historian Florence Müller and designed by architect Shohei Shigematsu of OMA, the exhibition is organized into twelve thematic chapters, showcasing over 1,000 objects, including more than 200 Japan-specific artefacts.

The experience begins in the soaring museum atrium, where eight monumental columns of Monogram washi paper glow like lanterns, leading to a dramatic “trunk hemisphere” composed of 138 assembled trunks. This symbolic structure serves as a gateway into the world of Louis Vuitton. From there, visitors trace the House’s origins in Asnières, discover archival innovations like the flat-top trunk and Steamer bag, and encounter rugged travel icons such as the Secrétaire Bureau Stokowski.
The exhibition also celebrates contemporary creations, including custom trunks for Sho Hirano and Verdy, alongside a space dedicated to materials like wood, metal, leather, and canvas, which all make up the foundation of Louis Vuitton design.

The Monogram Room presents an original 1897 canvas rediscovered in the Archives de Paris, displayed amid rotating rings of monogrammed creations. Other highlights include a behind-the-scenes look at the House’s legendary craftsmanship, testing devices “Louise” and “Louisette” in action, and a tribute to couture via Atelier Rarex, the Place Vendôme workshop for bespoke celebrity looks.
The exhibition concludes with a room devoted to Collaborations, a kaleidoscopic tribute to groundbreaking partnerships. From Stephen Sprouse and Supreme to Yayoi Kusama and NIGO. Visitors can purchase two exclusive souvenirs: the Visionary Journeys catalogue and notebook, as well as access a pre-launch of the Rizzoli publication Louis Vuitton Japan.

Just blocks away, at Espace Louis Vuitton Osaka, the second exhibition offers a more intimate but equally powerful experience. YAYOI KUSAMA: INFINITY – Selected Works from the Collection, presented as part of the Fondation Louis Vuitton’s Hors-les-murs program, charts the Japanese artist’s radical and ongoing creative journey. From her early Infinity Nets to iconic Dots, Kusama’s obsessive, meditative visual language comes to life in selected pieces drawn from the Fondation’s holdings.

Central to the exhibition is Infinity Mirror Room – Phalli’s Field (1965/2013), a landmark installation that immerses visitors in endless repetition and reflection. The exhibition traces Kusama’s early years in 1960s New York, her role as a pioneering outsider, and her return to Tokyo, where she still lives and works. Her art, rooted in hallucinations and resistance, remains a form of self-therapy she calls “self-obliteration.”
Together, these two exhibitions position Osaka as a global cultural destination in 2025. Through archival trunks and infinite dots, Visionary Journeys and INFINITY reveal how Louis Vuitton continues to reimagine the art of travel, storytelling, and aesthetic experience. It is a celebration not just of history and heritage, but of curiosity, invention, and the boundless potential of collaboration.
