Louis Vuitton Debuts Its Men’s Spring 2021 Collection In Miami Design District
Coming in as part of a multi-faceted installation with Zoooomies.
This year, art and fashion come together in Miami’s Design District, paving the way for Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2021 Menswear collection’s debut. Coming in as a part of a multi-faceted installation titled “The Adventures of Zoooom with Friends”, the Temporary Residency showcases the collection within the lively universe filled with a fantastical crew of characters conceptualized by Men’s Artistic Director Virgil Abloh. The characters take viewers on a raucous international voyage — a metaphor the fundamental belief in inclusivity at the core of the House’s approach to menswear.
First introduced at the 2020 Digital Fashion Week in Paris, “Zoooom with Friends” invited us to join the animated characters on their escapades throughout the city and their global adventure at large. Celebrating the House’s spirit of travel, this concept took the fashion world by storm. Miami is Zoooom’s first-ever stop in North America, and the characters are ready to whisk away the Jungle Plaza guests into an engaging outdoor adventure featuring the Zoooomies’ larger-than-life balloon figures positioned amongst their bespoke shipping containers and delightfully irreverent sculptures. The Residency will also feature a custom augmented reality experience, with Snapchat quick-response codes displayed on the containers inviting guests to interact with the Zoooomies’ animated incarnations while generating their own unique and shareable content.
As for the range itself, it is founded in four methods of upcycling: new looks made from recycled material, looks repeated from the Fall/Winter 2020 collection, looks freely created by the studio during the lockdown using recycled material and new looks created from existing ideas. Clients will be able to pre-order the designs via the Residency, too — in advance of the launch in Louis Vuitton stores worldwide. To finish off the immersive experience, guests will also discover a full suite of menswear moments from Abloh, including the second LV2054 capsule — a performance-inspired technical line that will make an international debut and extend its reach in a multi-climactic collection derived from methods used in professional skiwear.
