Louis Vuitton has announced its latest collaboration with Takashi Murakami, set to appear at Art Basel Paris 2025. The Artycapucines VII launch comes almost 20 years after the House’s first collection with the Japanese designer.

This will be Louis Vuitton’s third consecutive year as an associate partner of Art Basel Paris. Murakami curated an installation for the occasion, featuring an eight-meter-high octopus sculpture crafted in the artist’s whimsical style. The work expands on Murakami’s earlier octopus imagery, seen in his 2017 exhibition The Octopus Eats Its Own Leg. The 11-piece Artycapucines VII collection will be shown within its tentacles.

Several iterations of the house’s beloved Capucines bag will be displayed — including the Capucines BB Golden Garden, the Capusplit BB, and the Capucines Mini Autograph. The vibrant assortment of bags reference Murakami’s previous artworks and classic characters, including Smiling Flowers. His Superflat Panda character also appears in the collection’s Panda Clutch.
In Artycapucines VII, Murakami’s fantastical, psychedelic creations merge with the House’s classic styles. The Capucines East West Dragon bag draws inspiration from Murakami’s 2010 painting Dragon in Clouds Indigo Blue.

The bags will be showcased around three of the artist’s signature Plush Balls, including the new Cherry Blossom Plush Ball (2025), designed specifically for Art Basel Paris. The installation will be located on the Balcon d’Honneur at the Grand Palais.
