LRS Plays with Proportions for Spring/Summer 2021

But keeps some crucial design details.

As many of us may have learned over the past several months, it can be hard to celebrate your birthday in lockdown. Some have had quiet festivities with quarantine pals, while others have found their own way to put a unique spin on quarantine celebrations. For LRS’ fifth anniversary, marked by their Spring/Summer collection, the ready-to-wear brand celebrated with a total refresh.

The brand’s founder and head designer Raul Solis made this entire collection by hand from his in-home studio during quarantine, offering us a more personal look into the true spirit of LRS. To celebrate five years of the New York-based brand while looking forward to five more, we hope, Solis incorporated design elements the brand consistently used throughout the years with the introduction of new techniques.

Taking LRS on a new path, SS21 provides a fresh perspective on proportion and silhouette, appearing minimalistic, but rich with carefully considered details. Solis stuck to a limited color scheme so as not to distract the viewer from the sharp tailoring and expertly crafted silhouettes, truly wanting the viewer to experience the backbone of the brand.

Though the collection is stripped back, not reliant on excess details, seen in the jackets decorated only with a single button, it is certainly not boring. Exaggerated proportions and new applications of denim and leather, this collection challenges the structures and fabrics we know, bringing us new design concepts with the LRS voice.

While we continue quarantining, allow LRS’ SS21 to inspire you to celebrate anniversaries in style, give yourself a personal refresh, or maybe attempt to make an entire collection, all from home.
