Debuting their first Ready-To-Wear collection at Paris Fashion Week, Nahmias is bringing sportswear to the high fashion runway.  Nahmias is a mix of skate, surf, basketball, and hip-hop aesthetics with a high grade look. Founded by self-taught designer, Doni Nahmias, the brand is expanding from Los Angeles and taking on the global market.

For the new collection, Nahmias looks to combine a carefree attitude with a utilitarianism frame of mind. The collection, titled “Miracle Worker”, aims to bring out a feeling of accomplishment, and peace within oneself. It looks to bring out the“miracle worker” within the soul, and transform it into ready-to-wear pieces. 

Positive affirmations play a large role in the prints for “Miracle Worker”. The Serenity Prayer is a print on tees. The key word of the collection, “Miracle”, makes its way onto trucker hats, overalls, and other garments. “Kick Rocks” stitched into a black knit sweater, gives an edge to the positive nature of the rest of the collection. 

Nahmias stays true to its sportswear roots, but adds a refined class to each look. Brown, beige, and orange tie-dye joggers coincide with a matching jacket and a knit sweater. The sweater elevates the look from a streetwear style to a more sophisticated outfit. Tracksuit bottoms have a tailored look, while still remaining slouchy and baggy. Pants with detailing that mimic a rising sun are made out of lycra, giving subtle hints of sportswear without looking gym-ready. Leather duffle bags with skateboards attached to the bottom exude an avant garde approach to the combination of class and sports. 

The denim in the collection is made from a sustainable denim, and each silk piece is made with a special sand washing technique, each adding to the working class mindset of the “Miracle Worker”. The textile that brings Nahmias from sportswear to luxury is their Italian cow hide leather. This leather makes the “Summerland” jackets, trousers, and bags for the collection. 

The collection sticks to an autumnal color palette of browns and oranges, but adds a bit of flare with hues of emerald green and blue tones. To provide a neutral and moody feel, a selection of pieces are black, white, and gray. The color scheme creates an ephemeral mood, aiding the mystical and spiritual message of the collection.

For their first runway collection, Nahmias took workwear and sportswear and transformed it into a classy mode of dress. A mix of elevated sportswear and traditional Ready-to-Wear garments come together to make “Miracle Worker”.
