Maison Valentino Releases ‘Specula Mundi’ by Mark Borthwick

Teyana Taylor, Tate McRae, and a A-list crowd turned out for the fete at the Marciano Art Foundation in Los Angeles

Creative Director Alessandro Michele is continuing to honor his Spring 2026 couture collection “Specula Mundi,” now with a book by Mark Borthwick that follows Michele’s visual narrative.

A Kaiserpanorama installation revives the original scenography from the Specula Mundi show Valentino presented in Paris in January. Valentino immersed the celebrity masses in the world of Specula Mundi, directly translating from Latin to “mirror of the world.” The installation brings visuals from the book into a larger-than-life experience.

Michele and CEO Riccardo Bellini were present for the distinguished night, and guests included Lucia Aniello, Maude Apatow, Patricia Arquette, Devon Lee Carlson, Hannah Einbinder, Jordan Firstman, Dree Hemingway, Mindy Kaling, Charlotte Lawrence, Archie Madekwe, Tate McRae, Maika Monroe, Paul W. Downs, Sombr, Owen Thiele, and Teyana Taylor.

The two years that Michele has been at the creative helm of Valentino have marked the arrival of a new contemporary vision for the Maison de Couture. Specula Mundi marks Valentino’s continued dedication to exploring new forms of storytelling that bridge craftsmanship, culture and contemporary vision.

Mark Borthwick’s Specula Mundi book is a highly exclusive Valentino cultural object— only 1,500 numbered copies were produced. It’s complete with bespoke packaging and will be solely available in Valentino boutiques around the world starting May 11th.
