Marine Serre Fashions A Sci-Fi World

Marine Serre’s Spring 2021 collection fashions a fantasy realm.

Marine Serre have chosen to present their Spring 2021 collection in a short film, which displays their designs through a number of elaborate sci-fi landscapes.

The film, directed by Sasha Barbin and Ryan Doubiago and scored by Pierre Rousseau, opens looking down at a genderless figure lying on an examination table. A number of other figures quickly gather around the first, all clothed in the brand’s latest designs. Over the course of the film, the two stars, Iranian-Dutch singer Sevdaliza and French artist Juliet Merie, visit a red desert, an underwater world, and a blank white landscape.

In each environment, the clothes adapt and morph to match the tone. Each portion is tied together by Marine Serre’s ever-sharp tailoring and their iconic moon motif.

The differing landscapes take the collection through gray and jet-black palettes, to fiery-red, to sapphire and cobalt blue. Each iteration features both structured avant-garde items and tight, simple pieces optimized for movement.

Recycled fabrics, biodegradable nylon, and regenerated carpets signal the brand’s commitment to creating fashion that is both functional and sustainable. Marine Serre created the shoes worn in the film in collaboration with Jimmy Choo.
