No strangers to breaking the mold and having a little fun with fashion, Marni debuted their stellar Fall/Winter 2024 collection inside a papier-mâché cave reminiscent of a prehistoric ice cave. Departing from the previous Spring/Summer 2024 collection’s 3D florals, this season concentrated on elevated tailoring, bold prints, spiked silhouettes, and Ice-Age-approved furs.

“As a gesture of return, we’ve forbidden any images or references from seeping into our design process. By casting out the idolatry of mirrors, filled to the brim with conquering dreams, we have returned to an almost animal state, slowly relearning to stoke the fire, independent of para-essential needs, engines, planets, or, as Ms. Woolf would say, that very jar on the nerves, the thing itself before it has been made anything,” remarks Creative Director Francesco Risso on the collections notes.

Starting simple, looks are coated in a neutral-toned assemblage of blacks, browns, greys, and buttery yellows. Plunging v-necks, sharp shoulders, scrunched-up sleeves, outerwear and tops with built-in gloves, and villainous dress skirts are spotted through the cave. Fierce animal prints come out to play, as the color palette shifts to pale pinks, peaches, whites, reds, oranges, and icy blues. Fabrications range from leather, patent leather, fur, and shearling. Ensembles range from staple-tailored getups to a look ready for a night out on the prowl.

Accessory offerings include giant fur and leather clutches, elongated leather crossbody bags, galactic-style shield sunglasses, and fur shoulder bags. Footwear exists in complimentary heels, boots, athletic flats, and bulky round-toe boots.

Although he had no intent of being a designer, Francesco Risso proved to be an exemplary model of ingenious in today’s pool of great designers with his Fall/Winter 2024 collection.
