Meet Loro Piana’s New Luxury Fabric Combo, CashDenim

It’s made up of (you guessed it) cashmere and denim

Italian luxury brand Loro Piana is launching a brand new textile for their Fall/Winter 2023 Women’s collection, combining two base materials we know well. The brand’s CashDenim intricately combines the luxe comfort of cashmere with the groundedness of denim, creating one, whole fabric. A labor of love, the CashDenim looks are simple in their silhouettes but complex in their fabric work. The CashDenim is the star of the show, and oh it shines.

CashDenim was first conceptualized in a knowledge exchange between artisans of Piedmont, Italy, and denim manufacturers from the Bingo Region of Japan. Made up of 40% cashmere and 60% denim, the textile is meant to maintain the denim look while interweaving that cashmere comfort. Part of Loro Piana’s new line of super-luxury utility designs, CashDenim is able to put both splendor and value first.

The weaving process itself is incredibly strenuous, with the CashDenim only being tenable if woven very slowly. It also must be woven on vintage looms which rarely receive use in textile factories. Ultimately, it takes one day to produce a mere 50 meters. This small-batch nature adds to CashDenim’s luxury status, providing a certain exclusivity to the product.

In a world of increasingly grand silhouettes and styles, it’s refreshing to see a luxury designer focus in on textiles. Being the base of the look, it is the fabric and its component parts that truly set apart a high-quality design. Loro Piana is sticking to its roots, innovating within the base material to make the best possible garments.
