Not only is the acclaimed and adored HBO series Big Little Lies returning for another season, but now, in a double whammy of good news, the one and only Meryl Streep has joined the cast.

The 21-time Oscar nominee will join the show as a series regular and play the character of Mary Louise Wright, who, as The Hollywood Reporter describes, "is concerned for the well-being of her grandchildren following her son Perry's death." Streep will hopefully change the direction of the Wright name, which is associated with Perry Wright's (Alexander Skarsgard) abusive behavior toward his wife Celeste (Nicole Kidman) and, as we now know, Jane (Shailene Woodley).

Big Little Lies was originally slated as a limited series, but the outpouring of love — eight Emmys and four Golden Globes, not to mention fan craze – propelled HBO to bring it back. We know for sure we will at least have seven more episodes with the women of Monterey. Reese Witherspoon, along with Kidman and Laura Dern, is "beyond thrilled" to welcome the newest cast member.

Welcome to the #BigLittleLies family Ms. Streep - can’t wait xx
