Four months after the release of her controversial song "Borders" that shined a harsh light on the refugee crisis, M.I.A. has dropped yet another track, "Go Off." Produced by Skrillex and Blaqstarr, the rapper's latest work has a stark club track feel, juxtaposing the trance-worthy beat with the song's strong political message. The rapper sings of focus and concentration as she spews the power anthem lyrics, "There is no competition/I'm gonna talk and you gonna listen/I'm on ten like men, even better than them." "Go Off" comes from upcoming album AIM, set to debut on September 9.
M.I.A also directed and released an accompanying video to the track. Rather than featuring herself as the subject like the well-known releases for "Borders" and "Bad Girls," the three-minute video simply shows a montage of land explosions—using powerful visuals to emphasize the track's urgency for political and social action.
