Michael Kors is kicking off Pride Month with a partnership with The Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center (SNMVC). Their Pride 2023 capsule collection, which was released at the end of May, consists of three pieces including a pavé watch, a backpack, and a sling pack, all featuring rainbow motifs. To celebrate the collaboration, the designer himself will be hosting a conversation with Interview Magazine Editor-in-Chief Mel Ottenberg at the end of June for an intimate conversation at The Stonewall Inn, with a party to follow.
SNMVC is dedicated to preserving, advancing, and celebrating the legacy of the Stonewall Rebellion and the struggle for LGBTQ+ rights. Kors is a founding supporter of SNMVC and has a 30+ year history of supporting other LGBTQ+ causes such as God’s Love We Deliver, an organization that provides meals for those living with HIV/Aids in New York City.
The Raquel Rainbow watch features kaleidoscopic baguette stones and a rainbow baguette stone face. As a special tribute, the back of the watch includes Michael’s signature and a unique identification number. The Slater sling pack hosts a rainbow-hued braided chain strap and is crafted from rich pebbled leather with a front zip pocket for added storage and an adjustable strap. Made from the same pebbled leather, the Elliot backpack has an array of interior and exterior pockets to hold everything you might need for a day at the Pride Parade. Also with a rainbow-hued braided chain strap, the backpack is as practical as it is cute.
To continue its commitment to LGBTQ+ rights, Michael Kors has pledged to make an initial donation to SNMVC and will begin selling a co-branded tote throughout the year starting June 20. The black tote features a rainbow MK logo and one hundred percent of the profits from the tote will be directed towards SNMVC. Once the SNMVC opens in 2024, the tote will also be available in the gift shop.
