Michael Kors Teams Up with Lupita Nyong'o to Fight World Hunger

Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has joined forces with Michael Kors’ philanthropic campaign against hunger Watch Hunger Stop, to raise money for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and its school meals program. So far, the foundation has helped WFP provide upwards of 18 million children with food since its beginnings.

Nyong’o shares that she was excited to support Watch Hunger Stop, “because it focuses attention on solutions to the problem of hunger and encourages people to take action on an individual basis.”

This year’s campaign theme draws on words that the designer himself has often used to explain why this cause is important to him: “FOOD IS LOVE.” According to the foundation, feeding a child contributes to caring for them and encouraging their hopes and dreams.

As per their tradition, Michael Kors is releasing special-edition products in October to mark World Food Day on October 16th, in order to raise money for the WFP. This year’s items are t-shirts and totes featuring the world LOVE boldly printed on them, and they will be available online and in select Michael Kors stores starting October 1st. Additionally, to stimulate awareness, Michael Kors will donate 100 more meals every time a customer posts a selfie of them wearing their Watch Hunger Stop LOVE pieces along with the hashtag #watchhungerstop.
