Missing Since Thursday Pays Homage to Chaos Makers Before Them
Missing Since Thursday continues to reinvent punk fashion with their latest collection
Known for eclectic, punk patchwork on their pants, Missing Since Thursday – the genre bending brand co-founded by RighteousP and ScumbagChad – is back to pushing the envelope with their latest mini collection “An Ode to Violence: Kakihara.” The drop pays homage to Japanese director Takashi Miike and his 2001 film Ichi the Killer. The two pieces of the black, 100% cotton lined tracksuit depicts infamous manga character Kakihara.
Kakihara, the chaotic Yakuza enforcer who begins a murder spree in the film, is named as a “character that represents the ethos of [the] brand.” With gritty visuals and bright green and red tones, the tracksuit’s design is bizarrely striking — and undeniably representative of the brand’s look.
In paying homage on their pants to some of their favorite markers of culture such as Ichi the Killer, Miles Davis and Fela Kuti, MST remixes and reintroduces what punk styled jeans typically look like. Since 2015, the brand has grown a loyal following, working to create designs that cater directly to their demographic with the highest quality, color and textures possible.
“An Ode to Violence: Kakihara” dropped on Dec. 15th, serving as a holiday present to their adoring consumer base.
